Professor WhizzPop! Benefit Magic Show on Merrimon

When this inimitable magician walks into The Hop with his masterfully mind-boggling and riotous magic tricks, the roof comes off, and in the best way possible. If you and the crew are fans of laughter, this show will bring it from the belly, and in abundance!

In addition, this fun filled magic show will hope to raise funds for earthquake relief in Nepal … after the show we’ll pass the hat and every penny raised will go to Davendra Babu of Mango Tree Resort in Lamjung District to help build earthbag houses for those made homeless by last year’s disaster.

White Squirrel Festival – 2019

May 24th: 5:30pm-10:00pm

May 25th: 9:00am-10:00pm

May 26th: 12:00pm-6:00pm

Here comes the 16th annual WHITE SQUIRREL FESTIVAL.

A celebration of the locally famous furry critter, this family festival spans three days over Memorial Day weekend and features local handmade arts and crafts, local and regional music, Memorial Day parade, food trucks, craft beer, kids’ activities, and rides.

The WHITE SQUIRREL FESTIVAL is a quirky festival with a lineup of locally and nationally known musicians-this year’s headliner is Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds. Other acts include Lover’s Leap, Chatham Rabbits, Zoe & Cloyd. Check back here and at whitesquirrelfestival.com for band updates and schedule. All concerts are FREE.

The fun kicks off at 5:30 Friday night and continues all weekend. There are too many activities to list, but among them are great local food vendors and local craft beer, street vendors with arts and hand-made crafts, kids rides and activities, White Squirrel Photo Contest, White Squirrel 5K/10K Run, Transylvania Farmers Market, and even a rescued white squirrel!

A special feature of the event, Saturday starts with a Memorial Day Parade organized by the American Legion and VFW. The parade honors service men and women, and rolls through town at 9:00 am, followed by the Presentation of the Wreath ceremony at the courthouse.
