Discover How Fun Mountain Biking Can Be

MONDAY-SUNDAY: 10AM-6PM

TRAILS ARE OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK WITH VALID PASS FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET

Ride Kanuga Bike Park was born out of a simple concept; make mountain biking fun and welcoming.  Founded by Neko Mulally and Dave LaMond; Ride Kanuga is rider built, rider approved.  We do this through high quality, safe, and unique mountain bike specific trails; which equip and encourage both new riders and seasoned professionals to gain new skills and experiences.   Our team is passionate about delivering the best possible mountain bike experience in Western North Carolina in Hendersonville, a close 30 minutes from Asheville and Brevard.

Kanuga Bike Park features one-way, downhill specific terrain for all abilities. There is a mix of natural features, jump lines and trails unlike any in the region; which are specifically designed to help you progress as a rider.  Bikers have the ability to ride a climbing trail with a gentle grade, while taking in the sights and scents of Kanuga’s old growth forest. We support and encourage the use of eBikes, to increase access and spend more time in the fun zone going down.

This bike park project would not be possible without the generous efforts of our friends at Kanuga. Our mission is to provide a safe and fun family environment, while supporting Kanuga’s conservation legacy.  Every visit to our park contributes to the conservation and preservation of Kanuga.  With 1400 acres, miles of recreation trails, a 30-acre lake, historic guest cottages and Inn Lodging; Kanuga is a premier family retreat and destination for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Ride Kanuga is a bike park for everyone. We have trails ranging from beginner level to pro lines. Our trail map shows you which trails are made for each skill level. Keep in mind, the trails are rated as downhill mountain bike trails.

Holmes Educational State Forest has been providing the citizens of North Carolina a living outdoor classroom where visitors of all ages can learn about the local natural forest environment since 1977. The forest, which started out as a nursery developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, has now become one of seven educational state forests located throughout the state. The land along Crab Creek Road was obtained by the state in the mid-1930’s to provide North Carolina landowners White pine and Yellow poplar seedlings. By the late 1960’s the state moved the nursery to Avery County and developed Holmes has a small state forest. Since then, the forest has grown into a diverse woodscape that includes many other plant species from herbs on the forest floor to towering forest trees.

Forest Features:

  • Outdoor Education Workshops
  • Picnic Facilities
  • Ranger Conducted Classes
  • Trails with “Talking Trees” and exhibits
  • an out-of-commission NC Forest Service helicopter
  • a Labyrinth
  • gorgeous views and exciting wildlife

Take a Unique Journey Into Asheville’s Past Amongst Rolling Hills and Gardens

Cemetery Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Gates are open everyday from:

  • 7am-8pm April 1 – October 31
  • 7am-6pm November 1 – March 31

Asheville has been called home by writers, artists, governors, senators, generals and many notable individuals. Riverside Cemetery offers a unique look into the past and gives the opportunity to learn more about these individuals who shaped the city of Asheville. Riverside Cemetery was founded on August 4th, 1885 by the Asheville Cemetery Company. It was planned as a garden style cemetery which would serve well as both a burial ground and public park. After almost 70 years of ownership, the Asheville Cemetery Company sold Riverside to the City of Asheville in 1952. The City made many improvements to the cemetery, including opening new sections for interments and paving over 3.5 miles of roads inside the cemetery gates. Riverside was named a Buncombe County Treasure Tree Preserve in 1997. Today, we are operated by the City of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department.

Riverside Cemetery is not just a place where families come to visit a friend or a loved one. It is a place of beauty, encompassing 87 acres near downtown Asheville, NC overlooking the French Broad River – a place where you can walk, take photographs, paint and visit the grave sites of prominent writers Thomas Wolfe and O. Henry. Among the rolling hills and gardens you can find the graves of prominent writers such as Thomas Wolfe and O. Henry, Civil War heroes, and politicians that shaped North Carolina’s history. Self-guided walking tours are available at the cemetery office Monday – Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, and can offer a unique journey into Asheville’s past. More than 4,000 visitors tour the cemetery each year.

City of Asheville’s Riverside Cemetery is located in the Montford Historic District, a short walk or drive from downtown. The cemetery features more than 87 acres of landscaped grounds. The cemetery averages approximately 50 services each year.

Be Guided Through the Evolution of American Motorcycling and Automotive History

Thurs-Mon, 10:00am-5:00pm

Admission covers a one-day experience at Wheels Through Time.

On July 4th, 2002 Wheels Through Time Museum became a reality when it opened its 38,000 square foot facility in Maggie Valley, North Carolina.  The Museum  features one of the world’s premier collections of Vintage American Transportation, guiding visitors through the evolution of American motorcycling and automotive history.  The museum has attracted worldwide media attention and brought hundreds of thousands of visitors to Maggie Valley, North Carolina from all over the globe.

Many visitors consider the displays equally as interesting as the rare machines that are within them. The museum layout is more than a timeline of machines. It has the feel of an old garage, but is touched by relevant artwork of the era and houses precious items of memorabilia by the thousands. The museum is literally a cornucopia of American history.

🍓 ROAD TRIP TO STRAWBERRY PICKING! 🍓

🍓 ROAD TRIP TO STRAWBERRY PICKING! 🍓

.
While strawberry picking in the Asheville area doesn’t typically get started until closer to Mother’s Day, thankfully for us, the strawberries in neighboring South Carolina ripen sooner, and make for a great little road trip to go pick your own! We’ve put together a list of the best, just a short distance away (in order of distance from Asheville). See them all at the link above
