The Spinterview is a live mash-up prepared by Robin Tolleson, internationally published music journalist (Downbeat, Billboard, Musician, Modern Drummer, Guitar Player, Bass Player, Wind Player, Mix, Strings) DJ, and drummer. The Spinterview features rare and classic vinyl from your host’s collection, and sound bites from his interviews with some of the finest musicians in the world, all mixed and presented in real time.
March 6… “Blue Note…A New Note”
A vital part of the Golden Age of Jazz, Blue Note Records morphed with the fusion era and thrives today with an increasingly eclectic roster (Elvis Costello & The Roots, jam heroes Gov’t Mule!). This Spinterview features interviews with Bobby McFerrin, Eliane Elias, Wayne Shorter, Billy Martin and ?uestlove, and a tribute to the late Bob Belden.
April 3… “The Legacy of CTI Records”
Using top jazz and studio players, mixing stylish, sometimes lavish arrangements with stunning artwork, Creed Taylor’s label created a timeless product. The Spinterview captures great tracks and keen insights from CTI stalwarts such as George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Airto, Billy Cobham, and Creed Taylor himself.
May 1… “ECM Gems”
The Spinterview lets you meet some of ECM Records’ greats — guitarists John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny, trumpeters Don Cherry and Mark Isham, percussionist Nana Vasconcelos, and drummer Jack DeJohnette. ECM engineer Jan Erik Kongshaug also discusses the label’s signature sound, from his studio in Oslo, Norway.
June 5… “Drum Strokes”
In anticipation of the Asheville Percussion Festival, the Spinterview this month will feature the amazing percussion work of Don Alias and Poncho Sanchez, along with the drumming of Ginger Baker, Louie Bellson, Max Roach, Tony Williams and Adam Deitch. We will also pay tribute to the late greats Raul Rekow and Armando Peraza of Santana.

ZaPow is excited to be partnering with Girls on the Run of WNC, The HOP Ice Cream & Spellbound Bookshop for the next ZaPow Member Artist Group Show.
This is an ALL AGES event and is sure to be fun for the whole family.
The Hop Ice Cream will be giving each participating girl in attendance a free scoop of ice cream. Scoops will be available for grown ups to buy.
Spellbound Bookshop will be on hand with some fun on theme books for sale.
For the big (over 21 kids) ZaPow will be serving free samples of Asheville Brewing Beer
In an effort to represent the true heart of Girls on The Run the ZaPow artists will avoid making sneaker, running, athletics or track related art. Instead the artists of Zapow have created work that embodies some of the core values of Girls On The Run. The themes featured in this show will be:

And Positive Girl Icons from Pop Culture
ZaPow will donate 10% of all sales from the Night of the Opening Reception to the local chapter of Girls on the Run.

Children ages 12 and under are invited to join us for our annual Easter Egg Hunt located near Stuart Auditorium. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance for photos! Free and open to the public.

Expanding your family and looking for ways to teach your older child about the new baby? Join us for Welcome Little Baby Sibling Class. Learn what to expect, how to handle the transition and learn ways for the older sibling to help when new baby arrives. Hands-on activities, story telling, and practical advice. This class can be bundled with our Refresher Childbirth Class for second time parents.
Evergreen Community Charter School is excited to announce the third summer of the new Evergreen Summer Adventures! Open to Evergreen students and public alike, ESA offers campers a unique combination of enrichment activities in the morning, balanced with more traditional summer camp action in the afternoon. All rising Kindergarten through rising 9th graders welcome!!!
This summer will again be a 6 week program, running June 20th – July 29. Registration for camp is open. Sign-up for enrichment classes will be available APRIL 15.
8:00-9:00 – ARRIVAL
All campers check in and report to their age group’s lead counselor.
Children are split into age groups based on their rising grade (risin Kinder-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th, and 6th-9th)
9:00-11:00 – ENRICHMENT CLASSES
K-3 kiddos experience two, 1-hour classes.
4th-9th graders sign up for one, 2-hour class.
Snack around 10:00 a.m.
11:00-11:30 – CAMP CIRCLE
Whole camp circle to rally energies toward afternoon adventures.
Often focused on a weekly theme based on Evergreen Community Charter School’s Design Principles.
11:30-4:00 – AFTERNOON ADVENTURES
Afternoon Adventures will include weekly swimming, field trip, and climbing wall experiences for each child. In addition, other activities could include, hiking, service work around campus, field games, water play, gardening, and much, much, more! Afternoon Adventures are organized and facilitated by age group counselors, with lunch (not provided) and snack (provided, usually fresh fruit) being squeezed in around the activities.
4:00-5:30 – WIND DOWN & HEAD HOME
Tuesdays, Sept 13th-Oct 25th 10:00am-10:45am, free play until 12noon
Preschoolers will have a chance to discover the outdoors and make new friends. A new topic is explored each week through stories, art, exploration other outdoor activities. Space is limited. For ages 3-5 with an adult.
Registration is recommended. Drop in accepted based on availability.
