Healthy Halloween! (Alternative to trick-or-treating)
For families who want to celebrate Halloween/Samhain with their kids but DO NOT want kids all jacked up on sugar and artificial ingredients, this is for you…
Let’s get together at the pavilion at Carrier Park in our costumes and play fun kid games and eat healthy food and enjoy the magick of dress up and make pretend and the coming of fall!
I will bring fun decorations, Halloween coloring pages and crayons, apples and a tub for bobbing for apples (bring towels and a change of clothes if you wanna play!), and healthy treats (without sugar) to share. Y’all can bring more ideas/supplies for games and activities and more healthy food to share. Since we are in the dinner hour, we can make this be a potluck meal plus a few select treats – no cane sugar, please!
Bring your own reusable plates and eating ware, and we will make this environmentally friendly, too!
We could even have a costume contest – is there interest in that?
We are excited to celebrate with you all!

Kid Yoga & Movement Storytelling – Wortham Classes & Workshops (4-6yrs)
Miranda Watson’s playful, educational, and engaging class weaves in animal, nature, and humanity-themed yoga postures with storytelling. Each week she brings a book or tells a story with which the kids act out as the story unfolds. Using movement is a form of hands-on learning that enhances children’s literary experience and comprehension of the story as well as encourages self and body awareness and creative and imaginative exploration of their bodies moving through space.
Each class explores music, cooperative games, partner yoga, social and emotional skills building, mindfulness activities, and breathing and relaxation techniques. Miranda’s class will help develop an appreciation for stories, a healthy body, a loving heart, and a calm, focused mind.
Recommended for ages 4-6. Please bring a yoga mat.
Wednesdays at 9:45 AM
Henry LaBrun Studio
All classes through Oct. 31 = FREE! (Try it out!)
$10 for classes after Nov. 1
$2 discount for Friends of the Wortham Center
