Climb Out of the Darkness Asheville 2019

Climb Out of the Darkness® is the world’s largest event raising awareness of pregnancy and postpartum mental health disorders such as postpartum depression (PPD), anxiety, bipolar disorders, OCD and psychosis.

As part of the Climb, survivors, friends, and families around the world climb, hike, or walk together at a local mountain or park to symbolize their collective rise out of the darkness as well as to raise funds for Postpartum Support International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting pregnant and postpartum families around the world.

Everyone is invited to participate. The event is hosted by Perinatal Emotional Health Network of WNC and will be held at Pritchard Park from 10:00am-12:00pm

All the money raised will go to Postpartum Support International’s WNC chapter to continue our work in educating about Perinatal Mental Health.

Gather in the Garden: A Spring Celebration of Growth and Change at YWCA Asheville

Join us on Thursday, May 23rd in our newly renovated Thelma Caldwell Playground from 6:15-8:15 pm as we:

-Wish Beth Maczka a fond farewell
-Celebrate the success of our Persimmon Luncheon fundraiser
-Dedicate the new Thelma Caldwell Playground and Mural and
-Admire garden-inspired art works by our Early Learning Program students.

Hors d’oeuvres and homemade mint tea will be served while we enjoy a brief dedication ceremony and music.

In case of rain we will gather in the Multipurpose Room. This event is free and open to all. Please RSVP on the eventbrite ticket link. We hope to see you there!

Blue Ridge Heritage Weekend Arts & Crafts Fair

Come out and enjoy the 6th annual Blue Ridge Heritage Festival located on the Shelton House campus in Waynesville, NC. See demonstrations, find unique treasures, and enjoy great music and food! The festival is free to enjoy, but donations to Shelton House are always greatly appreciated.

Family Climbing 101 Class (5+yrs)

Bring the family and learn correct techniques, components, and terminology of belaying. Children will learn various knot-tying techniques used in belaying. Upon completion of this class, parents/guardians may belay their children at the Y during hours that the climbing wall is staffed and open for members. No experience necessary. All equipment provided.

Join us for a morning at our Early Childhood Campus: meet faculty, explore the classroom, play, and have a spot of tea!

Our EC program serves children birth – 6 years old.
Parent Child Classes: birth- 3 yr olds (6 week sessions and once a week classes)
Nursery: 2-4 yr olds (2, 3 and 4 day options)
Kindergarten 3.5-6 yr olds (5 day, full and half day options)

No Kid Hungry Awareness Fun Run/Walk

Join Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools and the YMCA of Western North Carolina for our FREE Summer Meals Kick-Off event and Partner Celebration on Saturday, June 8th from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Registration for the Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9:00 AM.

The benefit walk for No Kid Hungry will be from 10:00 – 10:45 AM. The Fun Run is FREE; however, shirts will be sold for $10.

Lunch will start at 11:00 AM, while games and activities for the whole family will be set-up the whole day!

Softball Fundraiser

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office will be playing the Henderson County Senior Softball Team to raise much needed funds for Special Needs Sports.
