Annual Cold Mountain Music Festival

Cold Mountain Music Festival features top-notch musical talent, amazing local food & drink vendors, family-friendly activities, and more all in one of the most pristine settings imaginable.  

The centerpiece of the almost 300-acre property is a mile-long lake surrounded by the Shining Rock Wilderness Area of Pisgah National Forest. 

Cold Mountain Music Festival support the ministries of Lake Logan – the Retreat Center, Camp Henry, and the Outdoor School in the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina. 

 

Ring in Spring at the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge

Come Ring in Spring at the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM, following the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptor Run. Join the Town of Lake Lure, the Flowering Bridge Volunteers, Lake Lure Classical Academy students and teachers Ring in Spring with festive music and light refreshments. This is a great opportunity to come together as a community and experience the glory of spring. Join us for beautiful music to celebrate spring in the Hickory Nut Gorge.

Movement, music, laughter and play come together to introduce your little one to the basic concepts and joy of dance! Bond with your toddler through fun movement activities, action songs, multi sensory props, sing-a-longs, parachute play and more! This caregiver/toddler dance class is a great opportunity to meet other local families and create new friendships! Come join us and see what all the fun is about!

On Main Street join the family oriented Festival spotlighting vendors with sweet treays.. Starting off the Festival with a Sweet Treats 5K.
Visit the booths with local non-profit, Miss Sweet Carolina Pageant and some great tunes.

Taste of Black Asheville

The YMI Cultural Center’s “365 Days of Black History: Merging the Past with the Present” Presents the “Taste of Black Asheville” dinners.

As a part of the YMI Cultural Center’s “365 Days of Black History: Merging the Past with the Present” initiative we are celebrating the culinary expertise of Black Asheville and the many cultural differences within. This is a night out with dinner and entertainment that will be hosted by 3 different culinary experts. Come and enjoy a Taste of Black Asheville with us!!

Tropical Gardens Mini Golf is one of Asheville’s must-see places. Our golf course is adventure-filled and has shaded paths. You are sure to enjoy testing your golf skills on our unique and challenging course.
You will be impressed with our 18-hole miniature golf course. In addition to playing golf, you can rent out our batting cages for playing baseball and softball. Helmets and bats are available at no charge.

2019 Special Olympics Spring Games

East Henderson High’s track and football field will transform into an Olympic Arena for Special Olympics Henderson County‘s annual Spring Games. Local law enforcement will meet at the Henderson County Courthouse at approximately 8:45 a.m. and run the lit torch to East Henderson High, where the opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin with the Parade of Athletes at 9:30 a.m. The official torch lighting will take place at the end of the opening ceremonies, at about 10:10 a.m.

This year’s Spring Games will be dedicated to former athlete, Tucker Revis, who passed away this year. His mother and sister will have the honor of lighting the flame in his memory.

Approximately 350 registered athletes will compete in softball throw, tennis ball throw, running long jump, standing long jump, 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 4×100 relay races, walk races, an assisted walk, wheelchair events, and challenge events.

This year’s Spring Games are sponsored by Blue Ridge Orthodontics, Civitans, Globe Treks Tours and Cruises, Knights of Columbus, Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors, Inc., Quality Home Consultants, and SELEE Corporation, with food donations by Sam’s Club and the Carolina Baptist Association

Family, friends, and community members are encouraged to come out to the field and cheer on the athletes! (Rain Date: April 12)

Beginner Clogging Class (all ages)

First class is free, $10 per class after that. Currently we plan on holding classes on Thursdays indefinitely as long as there is interest.

LEGO EV3 Introduction for Ages 7-13

In this introduction to robotics, we use LEGO EV3 robots to learn the following skills;

Making and saving files
Building Robots
Programming robots to solve problems and challenges
Recommended for ages 7-13 and those with reading and key boarding skills.

$30 per participant.

Inaugural Light up the Night 5k

On Friday, August 8, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., come out to Carrier Park in Asheville for a glow-in-the-dark walk or run timed by Finish Well Timing. This fundraising event supports Western Carolina Rescue Ministries (WCRM) and helps break the cycles of homelessness and addiction in our community.

All proceeds go directly to WCRM’s programs, providing shelter, addiction recovery, life counseling, and job training. For 44 years, we’ve been dedicated to helping those in crisis, and this 5K is one of our largest opportunities to raise funds to continue our mission.

Whether walking or running, your participation provides help, hope, and opportunity to those in need. Join us in lighting the way for life transformation in Asheville!
