Ride For Reading
Ride For Reading, presented by Asheville on Bikes and Strive Beyond, links the physical wellness of bike riding and the mental development of early reading. It’s one-part kids book drive, benefiting Asheville Primary School and one part bike-powered delivery ride. Ride For Reading is a national campaign and this is Asheville’s inaugural ride.

Now through Monday, May 13 bring new and used early reading books to New Belgium Brewing’s Liquid Center. The drop box is just inside the main doors, on the left. Asheville Primary School students are ages 3-6

Bring your bike and carrying capacity to New Belgium for a 3-mile round trip ride to Asheville Primary School to deliver the books. We’ll return to the Liquid Center for beverage time.

It’s Strawberry Picking Season!
The pre-picked strawberries have been hitting the farmers markets, and they are a great place to pick up a pint or gallon or two, but picking your own is a fun and family friendly activity, sure to delight the kids! May and June are peak strawberry picking season here in Western North Carolina. You have a few options for You Pick (U-Pick) strawberries in the Asheville area, but if you’d like to make a full day of it, check out the “Road Trip” section for farms a little further south from us that are open for u-pick fun, for those willing to make the drive!
