7th Ave Open Streets
What is Open Streets?
Strive and City of Hendersonville are teaming up to open up 7th Avenue to walking, biking and healthy movement of all kinds at an Open Streets event. This car-free event invites you to make the street your playground for the day, with activities, exercise, simple games and room to move, all up and down a vital city street.
What’s the Route?
E. 7th Ave. will be opened to activities between N. Grove St. and Ashe St., with additional blocks of activities on Maple and Locust. A temporary separated bike lane will be offered between Sullivan Park and the route, along Ashe St.
How do I Get There?
Open Streets is all about active transportation. Satellite parking will be available (watch for details) within a 1/2 mile walk of the route. Also the route is convenient to Mud Creek Greenway and Oklawaha Greenway for those who would like to park and ride/walk/roll from Jackson Park or Patton Park.
How can I participate?
Just come out ready for active fun and discovery, Sunday, May 19, 2-5pm.
Also, we are looking for volunteers and participation partners. Volunteers simply help setup, tear down, and keep attendees engaged. Participation Partners are clubs, organizations or companies who have an interest in growing active transportation and wellness and who would like to provide information and host a simple activity, game or exercise (we’ll help you think that part through.)
Where do we sign up?
This link is the one-stop signup form for interested participant groups (you can have a table and host an activity), volunteers, and just general interest:
