Exciting! In September, National Geographic TV will air a 30-minute television documentary about Asheville! A crew from National Geographic was in town earlier this summer capturing video for the piece (these photos are from that shoot). We’re excited to see it all coming together! The documentary will air September 20th at 6:30 p.m. and also September 27th at 9 a.m.
The documentary is part of an on-going partnership between Explore Asheville and National Geographic that began last year.

Asheville’s biggest nerd gathering is back! Bigger and better than ever. Asheville Comic Expo, or ACE for short, returns once again to the US Cellular Center in beautiful downtown Asheville. Come meet your favorite comic artist, see your favorite super heroes, dress up and enter our costume contest, or try to find that one nerd item that has eluded you.
There will be local and national artist, vendors, dealers, cosplay, and so much more. All ages are welcome and kids 12 and under get in free! This event is founded and hosted by Comic Envy.
New Programs for Kids Throughout September at the Waynesville Parks & Recreation Departments Base Camp.
THURSDAYS
On Thursday nights there will be a paddle sport program. This will consist of four sessions throughout the month. It will be for kids in fourth to seventh grades and will take place from 5:30 to 7 pm. The cost is $30 per person for all four sessions.
Also on Thursday nights there will also be a lifetime sports program for kids in first through fourth grade. The class will begin at 5:30 and end at 7 pm. The cost is $20 per person.
Finally on Thursday nights, there will be a tumbling / obstacle course training program for ages three to eight. It will take place from 5:30 to 7 pm and the cost is $20 for the four sessions.

Dodge Ball – $20 For the entire month (5 Sessions). Class includes instructions on how to play as well as 3 weeks of competitive play. The rst session will be how to play competitive dodge ball and then the group will be divided into teams for pool play and dodge ball fun.
Creative Minds at play -1st – 4th grades: $20 for the entire month (5 Sessions). These young people will get the opportunity to participate in the arts with crafts and explore their creative side through activities that involve music, fun and games.
Creative Minds at Play – 3 years old to Kindergarten: $20 for the entire month (5 Sessions). These young people will get the opportunity to participate in the arts with crafts and explore their creative side through activities that involve music, fun and games.
THURSDAYS, 5:30PM to 7:00pm
Fly Fishing – 4th – 7th grades: $20 For the entire month (5 Sessions). These young anglers will get to learn the basics of Fly Fishing while learning environmental stewardship. (Space is limited in this class)
Tumbling/obstacle course training – 3 years old to 4th grade: $20 For the entire month (5 Sessions). Students in this class will be divided into age appropriate groups and will have the opportunity to explore the fun of moving through creative obstacle courses.

Tiny Tumblers – 3 years old to 1st grade: Learn the basics of tumbling. This introductory course teaches the basics of tumbling and helps kids get used to rolling and jumping!
Lil Ninjas – Get kicking in this all new program from the WRC! In this all new class we will go over the basics of being a ninja! Activities will include tumbling, obstacle courses, agility training and other exciting games! 1st-7th graders
Unicorn Sessions on September 22 & 23, located in Fletcher, NC

Package A. $250, includes session fee for up to 3 people and 1 unicorn, with 7 edited digital images
Package B. $350, includes session fee for up to 3 people and 2 unicorns, with 14 edited digital images
