At Burton Street Peace Gardens & Martha Jane’s Garden. Come join us for seed-starting, planting, weeding, building, harvesting, laughing, eating, and sooo much more! Bring your own gloves & full water bottles. We’ll supply tools, seeds, and a little guidance (if needed).

Ever since Parkland, when we enter school we must acknowledge the fact that we might not come out alive. Fearing for our lives instead of pursuing our education is a widespread epidemic that we, the students, are ready to end once and for all.
We are organizing March For Our Lives in Asheville, NC, on March 24th starting at 11:00 AM at a location TBD, ending at Pack Square around the Vance Monument.
We can all agree that school shootings should not be an accepted part of life, and this March is a powerful step to ending gun violence.

Celebrate Easter with an uplifting outdoor Sunrise Service at the Amphitheater below the Lake Junaluska Cross. The service begins at 7 a.m., and attendees are encouraged to dress warmly for cool mountain morning temperatures. In the event of rain, the service will be held at Memorial Chapel. The guest speaker will be Reverend Amy Coles and the Biltmore brass is providing music
The sunrise service is part of Easter weekend events at Lake Junaluska including Easter Breakfast and Lunch Buffet special dining events at Lambuth Inn.

In partnership with Western Carolina University (WCU), Folkmoot is proud to host an African Friendship Dinner on Friday, March 16, 2018. Featuring African food, dance and activities, this event will take place from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Folkmoot Friendship Center in Waynesville.
WCU’s Organization of African Students will assist with hands-on cultural sharing and activities from the African countries of Nigeria, Liberia, Congo, Zambia, Kenya, Togo, South Sudan, Ghana and Ethiopia. Food, music and dance for the evening will be presented by the students, faculty and members of their families.
The organization of African Students at WCU is an association dedicated to the promotion of cultural, historical, political and economic awareness of the African continent its people. It also serves as a resource for the WCU campus and the surrounding communities.
Tickets for this event are $15 for adult, $10 for students, $40 for families of two adults and two children and can be purchased at Folkmoot.org or by calling 828-452-2997. Limited seating is available so advance purchase is advised. Parking is available in the back of the Folkmoot building for special events.
