The meal will be catered by Da Asian Kitchen and include hibachi chicken, vegetables, rice, egg rolls and dessert. WCU students and faculty will assist with hands-on new year cultural sharing and activities such as Chinese character writing. Lunar New Year is celebrated at the turn of the lunisolar calendar. It is commemorated in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia and Tibet, and is known as “Spring Festival” in modern China. Guests at Folkmoot’s celebration will learn about the various cultures of Asia while celebrating Lunar New Year.

Asheville Arts and Science Festival

The AASF seeks to create a bridge between the arts, the sciences, and the Asheville community. We want people to not just understand art and science, but to participate in it. We want to encourage tangible interactions that demystify and inspire the next generation of artists and scientists.

Hear short talks from local scientists, and ask them about their work. Listen to local music while checking out some amazing science fair projects. Check out some cool critters, or make something beautiful to take home with you.

Come explore why Asheville is called both “Paris of the South” for its rich arts culture and “Climate City” (we host the largest climate data repository)! And with a location like the Salvage Station, you’ll also get to enjoy our “Beer City” title…

Chili Cook-Off and Viewing Party

This is it. The competition to end all competitions. Only the best will prevail.

That’s right, it’s the Archetype Chili cook-off. Think you’ve got what it takes? Bring your best pot o’ chili down to Archetype Brewing on Superbowl Sunday, and let the masses decide. We’ll provide the bowls and silverware, you bring whatever toppings or fixin’s you want to serve, and your fellow patrons will vote on their favorite. The winner will get a $50 gift card for use in the taproom!

Meanwhile, we’ll be screening the big game on our MASSIVE projector screen. With plenty of seating, a family-friendly atmosphere, warm chili, and great beer…what could be better?

To enter the Chili Cook-Off, please email taproom@archetypebrewing.com ahead of time to let us know you’re coming.

Ninja Night aka Parent’s Night Out (4-12yrs)

Even the most “ninja” parents need a break sometimes. Enter the Ninja Kids Night In, Parents Night Out!
This is not your typical babysitting drop-off. We are setting up a kids haven!
We’ll begin with martial arts exercises and games. Then there’s free time with martial arts themed centers set up for kids of all ages to explore.  More fun games follow with plenty of running, leaping, and teamwork!
Then, we serve a pizza dinner with carrot sticks. Kids are also allowed to bring their own food (nut free).
Next, kids help to build an imaginary campfire and snuggle up to hear ancient Ninja stories and watch Disney’s Mulan!
