Saturday Kids Club

Calling all Gamers, Engineers, Designers, Coders and Scientists! Practice your technology skills, make new friends, and have a blast with us in our Saturday Kids Club! Enjoy different themes & activities each month of the school year!

Gamers – Participate in fun game-based challenges in Minecraft to develop eye-hand coordination, organization, problem-solving skills and teamwork.

Engineers – A powerful way to inspire interest in engineering through hands-on exploration and innovation using Robotics and Drones.

Designers – Inspire interest in designing through hands-on exploration and innovation with 3D Printing.

Coders – Learn real-world coding skills that software developers use every day. Go from true beginner to creating games in Scratch, all while having a blast along the way.

Scientists – Let us lead your little scientists through hands-on experiments to explore our Earth. Analyze your findings using the Scientific Method.

Stage Production: ‘Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo’

The most fun you will ever have at the ballet. Known adoringly as “The Trocks,” this irreverent and hilarious troupe brings its unique brand of polished parody to Diana Wortham Theatre for the first time. The divas and cavaliers of the all-male company blend their loving knowledge of classical and modern ballet, their comic approach, and the astounding fact that men can, indeed, dance en pointe. A major dance phenomenon worldwide, it’s all smiles when The Trocks don tutus, pointe shoes and false eyelashes to perform the classical ballet repertoire, all with athletic artistry, grace, and technical expertise.

Scale Up Family Program: Site Exploration (9+yrs)

Recommended for children 9+ and their families.

Created for families, this program is inspired by the public installation work of Scale Up artist, Mark Reigelman II. Our hands-on workshop invites participants to think about not just what they want to make, but also how the final location for the piece will help to inform the design process.

The first step in any design process is observation; participants will first watch the site itself, answering questions like: How does traffic flow? Does the lighting change? How do people interact with the space? etc.

Then, they will imagine and plan a one-of-a-kind installation design for their chosen space. At the end of the program, each group will present their design ideas.

All supplies are provided and refreshments will be served.

Family Fun Day (5+yrs)

Recommended for children 5+ and their families.

Bring your family to the Center for Craft for a fun, free afternoon of interactive gallery tours, story-time, and hands-on crafting. The Center for Craft invites children and their guardians to the gallery for kid-friendly exhibition tours and a series of short, hands-on activities inspired by the work of the current exhibition, In Times of Seismic Sorrows.

Did we mention treats? We will have treats on hand!
Tours are hosted each hour, on the hour. Hands-on activities are on-site throughout the event. Story time begins at 4:30 pm.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2018—Henderson County

Big Brothers Big Sisters’ annual signature fundraiser is back—and bowling has never been cooler: the theme for this year’s event is: Pirates!

That’s right: it’s time to round up your mates, friends, family, co-workers and register your own swashbuckling team to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Henderson County in the 2018 Bowl For Kids Sake!

Police Explorer Program (14+yrs)

Are you 14-20 years of age and interested in a career in law enforcement? If you answered yes Asheville Police Explorers is the program for you! You have the opportunity to learn from trained professionals, participate in scenarios, become involved in community service and participate in ride-alongs. The group meets the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6-8 p.m. at the downtown police station (100 Court Plaza).

Family Yoga (all ages welcome)

Let’s Spring to it! Come and be a part of our Pure Yoga Asheville kids yoga programming as a family and get everyone on the mat! This unique Family Yoga hour will be a playful and engaging time to be fully present, explore poses and meditation, have fun, create connection, and share your practice together. Beth will be leading the wild rumpus!

We will have time to weave some magic with AVL Fairy Hair there to celebrate Spring with a full head of sparkle for anyone and everyone in the family! No extra fees!

All ages are welcome! Cost is $8 per person. Each family member needs to register individually. Children can experience benefits from yoga, including improved physical strength, body awareness, and concentration. Plus, we will have a lot of FUN!!
