Lighting Up Maggie Valley
LIGHTING UP MAGGIE VALLEY – a kick off to the winter season! Join us and participate in the Santa Strut/Santa Costume Contest, the Ugly Sweater Contest,sing Christmas Carols with Laura Hawthorne – Christian Recording Artist, enjoy a performance by Voices in the Laurel, and for the finale – everyone will walk to the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds Waterfall for the Lighting Up of the Valley! Admission is free and they will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the local food pantry, monetary gifts to benefit the Friends of Haywood County Animal Shelter, and they are also accepting winter coats for a Coat Drive. This is a family friendly event, so come on out to see the Valley in all its glory!!

For Kids: Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE: A Dance Company (3rd-12th Grade)
Special daytime show for kids, students, families, and community groups! Combining music, movement, and spoken word, this vibrant dance company meshes African and modern dance in works that lift the spirit. In a performance designed for young people, choreographer Ronald K. Brown and the dancers of EVIDENCE explore themes of human struggles, triumphs, and the importance of community.
Please note that Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools are closed this day, so parents, grandparents, guardians, after-school program directors, and community group leaders are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to treat students/children with a trip to see live dance performance. Recommended for Grades 3-12.

Kids Winter Break Improv Camp (7-10yrs)
Asheville Improv Collective presents AIC Kid Improv Camp, a theatrical workshop for students ages 7-10.
Students will have the experience of working on a professional stage with experienced instructors, Katie Jones and Marlene Thompson! This 3 day workshop will include theatre games, creative drama, character development, and Scene work, all grounded in the technique of improvisation! The workshop will culminate in a sharing of work with friends and family.
The workshop will take place over Winter Break – Wednesday, December 20 through Friday, December 22 from 9am-5pm at The Magnetic Theatre, located at 375 Depot St. in Asheville’s River Arts District. Cost is $249 for the 3 day camp.
