Parade of Planets

On Monday, June 3rd, a rare event known as the “Parade of Planets” will occur, where six planets in our solar system align in a straight line.

Saturn and Mars will be visible to the naked eye, but you’ll need high-powered binoculars or a telescope to see Uranus and Neptune. Mercury and Jupiter will be tricky to spot because they are very close to the sun.

The same alignment will also happen later this summer on August 28!

Calling all garden lovers! Join us on Friday and Saturday, May 30 – 31 for our annual Spring Plant Sale and Market. The Market features unique plants grown in The North Carolina Arboretum’s Production Greenhouse and includes over 30 local growers and businesses. 🌿

Shop an outstanding collection of annuals, perennials and crafts to the sounds of live music. On Saturday, May 31st, children can participate in crafts at the Kids Corner. Rain or shine.

Register for The Salvation Army Kicks for Kids (Henderson County Kids)

Our 2024 Kicks for Kids offers our LOCAL school aged children a NEW pair of shoes for the 2024/2025 school year.

Parents/Guardians will need to CALL OUR OFFICE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to register all school aged children in the home K-12. Application dates are June 24-July 12 with only 1 evening registration on July 11th 5-7p. Shoe Tags will be available to our community donors on Monday July 15. If you have any questions please call our office 828-693-4181, speak with Emily, our caseworker.
