Movie Night in the Park

Free Event!!
The Town of Mills River Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting an outdoor movie in the park event at Mills River Park. The event will take place at the multi-purpose fields in the park. This event is free to attend. No pre-registration is required. Concessions will be available for purchase.

THE 2026 LINEUP:

  • Fri June 12th 6:00pm – Featured movie: Zootopia 2.
  • Fri Aug 21st 6:00pm – Featured movie: Goonies
  • Fri Oct 2nd 6:00pm – Featured movie: Toy Story 5

Start time will be dusk. The event will take place at the multi-purpose fields in the park. This event is free to attend. No pre-registration is required. Concessions will be available (cash only). Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Please leave all pets at home for this event.

 

Summer Splash Water Day

Join us for a day of refreshing excitement at one of our Summer Splash Water Days! Dive into a world of water-themed activities and beat the heat with an array of aquatic adventures! We recommend wearing clothes and shoes that can get wet. All ages welcome!

Rec ‘N’ Roll Monday Imagination Days (Ages 2-5yrs w/ Adult)

FREE | 10am-12pm

Giant building blocks, tunnels, and fun games await on special days of open play geared for ages 2-5 years-old. No advance registration or sign up required, adults must accompany children the entire time.

Big Barn Market and Barn Yoga Sunday

SUNDAYS IN THE BIG BARN!

Last Sunday of every month, June-October 

From 11:00am-3:00pm the Big Barn Market showcases a wonderful selection of local farmers, food makers, crafters, and artists, offering their finest creations.

‍♂️ At 9:00am for the early birds out there, is Big Barn Yoga, presented by Breeze Yoga Asheville. This invigorating yoga session will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to explore the Big Barn Market. $18. LEARN MORE HERE 

Food Culture Festival

Join us for a food, fun, and community weekend at the Foodees Food and Culture Festival! From July 21-23, we’ll be taking over the Smokey Mountain Event Center in Waynesville, NC, with over 25 food trucks and dozens of artisans, crafters, and vendors showcasing their unique creations.

Indulge in a diverse range of cuisines from around the world, including traditional Southern comfort food, Caribbean delights, Latin fusion, and much more. Take a stroll through the market, where you’ll discover a treasure trove of handmade goods, artisanal crafts, and unique wares from local vendors.

Our festival is designed to bring people from all backgrounds and communities together. We believe that food has the power to unite and connect us on a deep level, regardless of our differences. That’s why we’re committed to promoting understanding, breaking down barriers, and creating a more harmonious and united community.

So bring your friends, family, and loved ones, and join us for a weekend of delicious food, music, and community. Admission is free, so don’t miss out on this amazing event!

Grand Opening of Appalachian Mountain Brewery – Mills River

Appalachian Mountain Brewery – Mills River is opening a brand new tap room in Mills River, and celebrating with a Grand Opening Party this Friday and Saturday! Their doors will open Friday, at noon, with a ribbon-cutting with the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce to follow at 4pm. The weekend plans are jam packed with fresh beer, elevated comfort food, and live music in the beer garden. The first 200 guest on Friday and Saturday will also receive a special commemorative glass.

♥️ For the kids, they’ll have a full food menu with kids menu, custom coloring pages, crayons, a fully fenced in beer garden with many picnic tables, shade, games to play, and a play table featuring sand/gravel and bulldozers and other toys. We also love that although it’s very welcoming of kids and dogs from day one, they have aspirations for more elaborate kids areas in the future!

Moose Tracks Ice Cream 10,000 Scoop Challenge

It’s the largest ice cream social around! Enjoy FREE Kemps and Mayfield Dairy Farms Moose Tracks Ice Cream, and help raise $10,000 for MANNA FoodBank. For each scoop served, Moose Tracks will donate $1 to MANNA FoodBank for vital community programs.

Backcountry Bash

THE PARK IS GROWING BY MILES AND MILES!!

Just over 6 miles of new trail to be exact! On June 24th we will be celebrating the opening of four NEW TRAILS (in yellow) at our BACKCOUNTRY BASH from 11:00am-3:00pm. We would love for you to come and celebrate with us!!!
