Family Day on the Greenway

Family Day on the Joseph McDowell Historic Catawba Greenway in Marion with the McDowell Trails Association, in celebration of the Year of the Trail. All day activities, Barefoot Baby Kid Zone, music at the amphitheater, birding walk, hands-on demonstrations by the Lake James Environmental Association, food and icee trucks. Free MTA memberships offered during the event.

Splash Bash

2nd Annual Splash Bash at Camping World in Marion NC. Water slides, a 20 foot dual lane Inferno Slide, a dunk tank, a 50 foot obstacle course that ends in a water slide, foam parties EVERY HOUR, food trucks, a petting zoo (that will have a baby wallaby, llama, baby bobcat and more), and a toddler zone specifically and only for the 3 and under attendees. Inside the pavilion there will be vendors, including a section just for the youngest of entrepreneurs.

$5/General Admission

$10/Toddler Admission (toddler zone, foam parties, and petting zoo)

$15/Water Pass (19ft slides, 20ft slide, obstacle course, foam parties, and petting zoo)

Family Fun Festival in the parking lot of the Asheville Mall. Enjoy carnival rides and games for all ages along with your favorite fair foods like funnel cakes, fried oreos, and more.

Every third Saturday of the month!

Atelier Maison & Co. and Show & Tell are teaming up to showcase the best in art & design! Join us at the Atelier Maison & Co. showroom off of Sweeten Creek Rd for a monthly Makers Market every third Saturday in the Asheville Design District. Each month will feature vendors and artisans selling housewares, vintage clothing, original art, handmade crafts, fair trade imports, and more.

Free and open to the public.

Dogs are welcome!

Vendors are setup inside and outside the showroom and runs rain or shine.

Parking is available behind the showroom.

Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail Kickoff Event

Explore the Mills River on the Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail with the biologists and water quality experts of the NC Wildlife Commission and the Mills River Partnership to discover the many creates that call the Mills River and the Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail home!

♥️ The Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail is an innovative education project that will link together a set of publicly accessible river sites where people can safely snorkel to experience the underwater world of streams and rivers of western North Carolina and beyond. Ten sites will connect people to the underwater worlds of the Catawba, French Broad, Hiwassee, Little Tennessee, and Yadkin river basins. Each site had an educational sign, which provides safety information, a description of notable species at the site, and other information about the trail.

Skyland Fire Safety Day

2nd Annual Skyland Fire and Rescue Safety Day, presented by Hunter Subaru at the Biltmore Church Arden Campus. The event will focus on safety around the home, fire safety tips, health and wellness, CPR and first aid training, demonstrations of the fire department apparatus, and firefighting and rescue techniques. Activities include live music (City Limits and Red Clay Revival), food trucks (including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and frozen dessert options), fire truck rides, apparatus tours, a junior firefighter combat challenge, inflatables and more. There will be something for the entire family to enjoy as they learn new skills and every day safety practices and techniques.

  • ♥️ Participating agencies will host educational booths and displays focused on promoting public safety. Confirmed participants for the day include Hunter Subaru, the American Red Cross, Blood Connection Blood Drive, Buncombe County Fire Marshal and Fire Safety House, Buncombe County Sheriff Department, Buncombe County EMS, MAMA medical helicopter, Mission Hospital Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Teams, National Weather Service, NC Forest Service, WNC SAFE KIDS, Civic Credit Union, and various other public safety organizations and vendors.
  • ☔️ The event will be held rain or shine.
  • 🎟️ There is no cost to attend.
  • 😎 Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the live music. A covered tent and seating area will be available near the music stage.

Centennial Anniversary Party

Centennial Anniversary Party at The North Carolina Arboretum with Carolina Mountain Club. Headquartered in Asheville and founded in 1923, Carolina Mountain Club is the oldest hiking and trail maintenance organization in the South, fostering the enjoyment of the mountains of Western North Carolina and adjoining regions. Admission to the Arboretum will be FREE on this day for anyone attending the celebration.

FREE Engaging Recreational Activities

Buncombe County Recreation Services has a whole summer of fun planned for your little ones with their Community Outreach and Recreation Experiences (CORE) program that aims at providing FREE, engaging, and recreational activities to our community! Their dedicated CORE van will be on-site at select Buncombe County Parks & Recreation locations (pools, parks, and recreation centers), bringing you an array of engaging games, pool activities, balls, and more. It’s the perfect opportunity for youth to be active, have fun, and meet new friends, creating lasting memories.
