The City of Asheville’s new Community Gardens Program allows citizens to start edible gardens on parcels of City-owned land in various areas of town.
Each garden location has room for several plots.
This is a great way to bring your neighborhood and/or organization together to grow local, fresh, and healthy produce to create a stronger, more resilient community. There is no cost to lease the land. All you need are helping hands.
This kickoff event will feature a DIY garden bed demonstration, information on how to get involved, free pollinator seeds, lots of discussion and cookies and lemonade.

Summer Program 2017 (3-6yrs)
Our summer program meets Monday-Thursday from 9am-1pm. The cost includes a snack and all materials. Please send a packed lunch.
Solstice Sun June 19-22 Ages: 3-6 years Cost: $140
It’s officially summer and the long days of sun. We will celebrate all things sun by making sun prints, drinking sun tea, painting, and blowing bubbles. Our circle time will tell of hot days as we act like all the busy animals of the meadow and forest!
Let’s go Fishing July 24-27 Ages: 3-6 years Cost: $140
This week we will sew our own fishy finger puppet and dye a silk for a fishy home. We will learn fish and water poems and stories to act out with our new puppet materials. We will also observe and explore the fish and water creatures in our own streams.
Row Your Boat August 7-10 Ages: 3-6 years Cost: $140
Each child will spend the week making a wooden boat and we will float them downstream together! We will explore the water each day, looking for crawdads, salamanders, dragonflies, and damselflies. We’ll sing and dance in circle time like the plants and animals we’ve seen and we’ll even hear a story about an enchanted waterway.
