- May 9 – May 31, 2025 – The Book of Will … The Book of Will follows the journey of William Shakespeare’s friends and fellow playwrights as they struggle to preserve his legacy after his death. Amid betrayal, heartbreak, and ambition, they work to compile his works into the First Folio, ensuring his immortality in the world of theater.
- June 6 – June 28, 2025 – The Merry Wives of Windsor …The Merry Wives of Windsor is a lively comedy centered on the antics of Sir John Falstaff, who attempts to woo two women, Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Page. Their clever retaliation & mischievous schemes lead to a series of humorous misunderstandings and deceptions in a 1950s Windsor.
- July 4 – August 2, 2025 – A Midsummer Nights Dream …A Midsummer Night’s Dream weaves a magical tale of love, mischief, and mistaken identities. Set in a mystical forest, fairies interfere with the romantic entanglements of four young lovers and a group of actors, creating chaos and comedy as they navigate love’s enchantments and illusions.
- August 8 – August 30, 2025 – Cyrano de Bergerac …Cyrano de Bergerac tells the poignant story of the witty and courageous Cyrano, a man with a large nose and a big heart. In love with Roxane, he helps the handsome but inarticulate Christian win her affection, all while hiding his own feelings and sacrificing his love for her.
- September 5 – September 27, 2025 – King Lear …King Lear is a tragic tale of a king who divides his kingdom between his daughters, sparking betrayal, madness, and ruin. As Lear grapples with his decisions, he is betrayed by two of his daughters, while the loyalty of his youngest, Cordelia, leads to heartbreak and tragedy.
- October 3 – October 25, 2025 – She Kills Monsters …She Kills Monsters is a heartfelt and humorous story about Agnes, who discovers her late sister Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons campaign. As she navigates Tilly’s fantasy world, Agnes uncovers hidden truths about her sister’s life, grief, and their bond, blending fantasy adventure with real-world emotions.
2025 Music on Main Friday & Saturday Street Dance Summer Concert Series
These free outdoor concerts offer a diverse line-up of music from pop, oldies, rock, to contemporary music – there’s something for every musical taste! Live Music, Dancing, Food Trucks, and Classic Cars. Concert organized by the Arts Council of Henderson County. Bring your chairs and enjoy some great live music.

Dog Daze
Marshall celebrates our four legged best friends during the Dog Daze of summer. There will be a parade starting at the Courthouse at 6:00 p.m. and ending at the stage at the island. There will be dog contests and specials throughout downtown. Come spend a lazy summer evening in Marshall!
Kid’s Nature Hike
Come hike the Orchard trails with environmental scientist Lauren Street! Kids will learn identification of local flora and fauna, stream ecology, and more!
Children’s Book Club
Come listen as Orchard owner Bill Carson reads his book, “When It Rains on the Mountain”! Children will get a free copy of the book and a chance to meet Bill and get an autograph.
Reading is Alive!
Theater outreach program – interactive for children, free for all ages Reading is Alive! encourages children to read for pleasure, maintains and improves reading skills, encourages them to be lifelong readers and library users, establishes reading as a foundation for academic success, and provides the cultural experience of live theater to all ages.
Along with the live family-friendly musical, “A Year with Frog and Toad”, children will have a chance to create a one-of-a-kind craft with a Penland teaching artist, sign up for the summer reading program through the library, and receive a book (while supplies last)!

Sandcastle Party (all ages)
Build a sandcastle-in-a-box and put it on display at the library! All materials will be provided and all ages are welcome, but space is limited.
