An Evening w/ the Brevard Jazz Professors ft. Jeff Sipe

Brevard Jazz Professors:

WEBSITE:  www.brevardjazz.com
SEE A VIDEO:  https://youtu.be/GZkMZWkZmqs

The Brevard Jazz Professors is comprised of some the most sought after jazz musicians in the world including Director Michael Dease (trombone), Jim Alfredson (Organ), Tim Green, Jason Hainsworth, and Jacob Reodriguez, (Saxophone), Brandon Lee (Trumpet), Luther Allison (Piano), Jeff Sipe and Zach Adleman (Drums). This cast of musicians can only be described as extremely versatile, having played with musicians from Paul Simon and Neal Dimond, to Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, Ray Brown. The faculty has performed on numerous Grammy Winning Albums including Christian McBride’s “The Good Feeling,” Ted Nash’s “The Presidential Suite,” and Alicia Keys’s “As I am” album.

Director Michael Dease, a prominent composer, arranger, educator, and performer, has recently won the Rising Star Trombone category in Downbeat Magazine, among countless other honors from ASCAP, The International Trombone Association, Yamaha, Eastern Trombone Work- shop, and New York Youth Symphony. Dease has been featured on more then ten CD’s as a leader, and even more as a sidemen. Dan Bilawsky of “All about Jazz” says Dease has a “buttery tone, monster chops, and impeccable sense of musicality to lead the way.” To have all these musicians in one location, is an exciting opportunity you don’t want to miss.

Asheville Jewish Folk Music Collection Concert

The Asheville Jewish Folk Music Collection Project invited participating Asheville musicians to select for recording an original composition with Jewish and/or Hebrew content or a piece of Jewish music that is in the public domain. Musicians were invited to collaborate with each other on their recordings and spent two days at Echo Mountain Studios creating a digital master of the songs.

The JCC is excited to announce a live performance of the Asheville Jewish Folk Music Collection Project on May 21, 2017 at New Mountain at 3 pm! We hope you can join us on the 21st to help us celebrate the story of Jewish Asheville told through music!

RSVP to Rochelle@jcc-asheville.org by Friday, May 19, to reserve your tickets. Additional tickets will be available at the door based on availability.

For more information about the project and the concert, see http://www.jcc-asheville.org/asheville-jewish-folk-music-collection/
