Dulce Sweet Kids: Weekly Drop-In Spanish Classes for Kids
Ages 3-5 @ 10:30am-11:15am
Ages 6-10 @ 11:30am to 12:15pm
Weekly Saturday classes for kids ages 3-5 (10:30am until 11:15am) and 6-10 (11:15am to 12:30pm). Classes focus on exposing children to the Spanish language thru a combination of music, art and fun.
We, at Dulce Sweet, bring a Latin World experience to kids through a combination of music, art, language and adventures.
Its about fun!! Its about traditions!! We believe the strongest motivator in learning is interest. We teach Spanish through traditional songs, celebrations of the Latin Holidays, and through traditional Latin arts. We believe that second language experience teaches kids so much more than another language or another culture. It teaches the wonder and splendor of differences and opens up a whole world.

3rd Annual Raccoon Run 5K
Join us for a family-friendly 5K to benefit the students at Pisgah Forest Elementary School.
Registration Forms are available at Pisgah Forest Elementary or online at http://pfe.tscnc.org
The first 100 participants will receive a free t-shirt! Registration Packets can be picked up the day of the race at 8am.
Please no pets, bicycles or skateboards. Strollers are welcome!

Great Cloth Diaper Change

The 8th Annual Great Cloth Diaper Change will take place on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. This is a fun event to help spread awareness and support in our community. We will gather together to change our babies into 100% reusable cloth diapers. GCDC is a fun,global cloth diaper party
We are trying to break last years record of 3,089 participants world wide. We have received donations from many of your favorite cloth diaper companies. These item will be raffled off after the GCDC is complete.
The Littlest Birds will be celebrating with an Earth Day Cloth Diaper sale! Fun activities for big kids too!
Registration is now open! You must use a commercially available cloth diaper, no trainers, and you baby must be 39″ tall or shorter. Please comment below with the brand of cloth diaper you plan to use and your baby’s height to register or call The Littlest BIrds at 828-253-4747.

Ranging from $5-$10 per hour. There are multiple avenues for eligibility but generally this is an income-based “sliding scale” determined when you meet with our Empowerment Child Care director to register.”

Mining Sluice Grand Opening
Saturday, May 7th, 10am-5pm
1pm: Short presentation on gems and the history of gem mining in the Southern Appalachian area from the Colburn Earth Science Museum
Join the WNC Nature Center, with special guests from Colburn Earth Science Museum, soon to be Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS), to celebrate the official grand opening of a new mining sluice at the Explorer’s Outpost area at the Center.
The exciting new attraction features a 30-foot mining sluice and water tower, offering gem mining for a small fee as well as free opportunities for play with water. This is the latest addition to Explorer’s Outpost, where Captain Dave’s Pirate Dawgs and Gift Shop are also located. Guests may purchase bags of roughage from Captain Dave’s Gift Shop for use in the mining sluice.
