Stage Production: ‘“Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon” by Patty Lovell

STAND TALL, MOLLY LOU MELON!
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library presents “Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon” by Patty Lovell. “Molly Lou Melon is short and clumsy – and has a voice that sounds like a bullfrog being squeezed by a boa constrictor. But her grandmother has always told her to walk proud, smile big, and sing loud, and she takes that advice to heart.” You and your little ones are invited to come watch this delightful children’s book come to life in this 20 minute sing-along musical, with a special appearance by Dolly Parton via video. There will be 3 or 4 actors from Dollywood’s Little Engine Playhouse, performing. This program is FREE and open to all ages (and perfect for toddlers and kindergarteners!)!

Grand Opening Celebration for Mel Chin’s Wake

Join us for the grand opening celebration!

‘Wake’, Mel Chin’s giant animatronic sculpture, installed in New York City’s Times Square last summer, will be on view in Asheville, from March 15 to September 7, at 44 Collier Avenue. Chin, a WNC based conceptual artist, was named a MacArthur Fellow in September 2019.

This event is free and open the public.

Starting March 16th, visitors can experience Wake daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The full schedule of programs is available at ashevillearts.com/public-art

USA A-Z (Best for Grades 3rd-8th), Presented by Bright Star Touring Theatre
Join Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam as they take your audience on a journey through America. Your students will learn how the political process works, the differences between the judicial, legislative and executive branches and what it means to vote. At various points during the show, your audience will take part in a live-action game show component featuring patriotic prizes while our hosts entertain them with their hilarious antics. From the Constitution to the Declaration of Independence to the swing vote, this show will leave no political stone unturned. This special tour is running through Election Day and is designed to encourage good citizens by teaching audiences how they can contribute to their own communities. Tickets are $7.49.

Little Women (Best for Grades 6th and up), Presented by Asheville Community Theatre
Share this timeless and enduring classic about the March sisters’ journey from childhood to maturity during the American Civil War. Audiences of all generations will enjoy acquainting — or reacquainting — themselves with the sisters: Meg, the eldest; Jo, the high-spirited tomboy; Amy, the self-centered beauty; and gentle Beth, as well as their beloved Marmee and Father. Together the March family learns to endure both good times and bad as they share the joys and pains of growing up. White Zombie 5k

Run or walk from Catawba Brewing’s downtown Asheville South Slope tasting room & dodge zombies along the way in several Outbreak Zones.

Racers who dress in costume are encouraged to come as zombies or other Catawba characters (i.e. Farmer Ted, Evening Joe, HOPness Monster, etc) to join in the festivities!

A beer token is included with registration for those zombies/racers who are 21 years and older! All runners will receive a custom ZOMBIE race bib.

Race t-shirts can be added on during registration.
