Mother’s Day Plant Sale / Farmer’s Market

Free To The Public

Come on down to Pinners Cove’s inaugural farmer’s market. We will be selling various vegetable and flower starts, including dahlias, succulents, and herbs/tomatoes just at the perfect time for transplanting into your garden, and for gifting to your dear moms! Better yet, bring your moms and let them choose from among a handful of vendors from the Pinners Cove area, including vintage wares, live painting demos and art, and a chance to meet local author Lisa Wagoner. Teen Nerf Night (13-16yrs)

Two fun nights where teens battle it out with friends through exciting Nerf battles. All you need is a Nerf blaster of choice. We have extra darts, bunkers, and safety glasses. Come dressed for stealth or glow in the dark for extra excitement.

Summer Rec N Roll Toddler Program

Rec n Roll, Asheville Parks & Recreations’ colorful mobile activity van full of games, art projects, and fun treasures to stoke the imagination, is rolling into a park near you during summer break! With multiple dates there is plenty for you to explore, connect, and discover while you’re out of school! No registration necessary and each event is FREE!

 

  • June 12th – Messy Art in the Park @ West Asheville Park … Dress for a mess! Varied art projects with paints, chalk, and more. Activities will vary but we guarantee a messy good time! Ages 1-5 with an adult helper are best.
  • June 26th – Things that Go! @ Jake Rusher Park … Vroom…vroom. Get ready to go, go, go! Ride ons, bikes, scooters, cars & so much more to explore. Activities are best suited for 1.5-5 year olds.
  • July 3rd – Dino Days @ Haw Creek Park … Come on a thrilling journey about dinosaurs! Activities are best suited for 2-5 years old.
  • July 10th – Little Scientist @ Weaver Park … Whoa! How did you do that! Fun science projects for little minds. Dress for a mess! Activities are best suited for 2-5 year olds.
  • July 17th – Gardening @ Stephens Lee Center Garden … Dig and explore in our community garden with instructor led activities that focus on growing food and flowers. Activities are best suited for 2-5 year olds.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Toddler Prom

FREE Transit Day

The City of Asheville is partnering with Strive Beyond and the Land of Sky Regional Council to provide free transit on May 13, 2024. Passengers will not be required to pay bus fare on any Asheville Rides Transit (ART) public transportation route for the entire day. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity!

In conjunction with Strive Not To Drive Week and Free Transit Day, Strive Beyond and AARP will host a travel training event on May 13, 2024. This event is open to the public and geared towards providing participants with on-the-ground training in using ART to access popular destinations in the area.

The Travel Training event will begin at Harrah’s Cherokee Center at 9:00 a.m. Participants will travel to Asheville Mall and return to the center at approximately 12:10 p.m.

Summer Concert Series

Music in the Park takes place in the Main Street Nature Park. Music starts at 6pm. Guests are invited to bring a picnic, chairs, friends, family, blankets, and your dancing shoes.

  • June 8th: Up Jumped Three will play original jazz compositions in a variety of styles ranging from traditional to free improvisation, with select recognizable standards included which fit their sound and aesthetic. Band members are Bryan White (double bass), Frank Southecorvo (saxophones), guest drummer Brian Palmieri.
  • July 13th: We will be joined by The JackTown Ramblers, one of Western North Carolina’s most in demand acoustic bands bringing Bluegrass, Swing, and Gypsy Jazz along with a lot of laughs to audiences of over 400 shows. They fuse bluegrass vocals, swinging instrumentals and an upbeat show to bring a truly unique experience and a lot of fun to the stage.
