Fee FREE Day
On the Fourth Tuesday of every month, general admission to the Cradle of Forestry is FEE FREE! Additionally, National Get Outdoors Day (Sat, June 8th, 2024) and Public Lands Day (Sat, Sept 28th, 2024) are also FEE FREE.
Gather up your family and friends, pack a picnic lunch, and go discover how this innovative educational institution shaped our country’s history and imagine how it felt to be one of its first pupils.
Their trails offer visitors a chance to explore historical buildings from the time of the Biltmore Forest School (1898-1914), climb aboard and ring the bell of a 1914 Climax logging train engine, and interact with historical interpreters through programs and special events.
Inside their Discovery Center, you’ll find a gift shop, a spacious theater playing a short film about the history of their site, and an interactive exhibit hall, including a historic Bell UH-1F helicopter for children to take a virtual flight to see and feel what it must be like to work as a US Forestry Helicopter pilot.
