Deadline to submit your registration for the Backpack Giveaway with

BACKPACK GIVEAWAY!

This year, John McClung Roofing, Inc. will be giving away 150 backpacks with supplies to kids going into K-8th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. If you or someone you know has a child/children who could benefit from one of these, please click the link below to fill out the registration/nomination form. Recipients may pick up their backpacks and “shop” for their supplies on Saturday, August 12th, from 11am-1pm at the Carrier Park Picnic Shelter. Some supplies included in every bag are notebooks, colored pencils, glue sticks, rulers, earbuds, highlighters, folders, scissors, etc.

🎒 Submissions are due August 3rd and recipients will be announced on August 4th.

🎒 Due to a limited supply, depending on demand, please note that it is possible your name may not be chosen.

🎒 If your child is chosen to receive a backpack, they will notify you via email.

🎒 No restrictions on location, but must be able to pick up on the giveaway day.

🎒 Any bags not picked up during pickup day will be donated to another student.

Back 2 School Bash- Block Party & Backpack Event

Come join us for the ultimate Back 2 School Bash at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center in Asheville, NC, USA! National Night Out with the Black Mountain Police Department

Come out and get to know some of the staff who serve this amazing community.

*The Trio of Craig Bannerman, Troy Harrison, and Scott Owenby will be here performing traditional mountain music.

*A bounce house will be on site for the kiddos and the splashpad will be open.

*Additionally, we will have THREE food trucks on site. Hit the Pit BBQ, Cream Works, and Pelicans will be here for your dining pleasure!

Annual Farmworker Fair

FARMWORKER FAIR!
July 30th 1:00pm-6:00pm – 2nd Annual Farmworker Fair at Dana Park in Flat Rock. There will be food, music, a free food market, and several wonderful community organizations!

Rare Editions Exhibition: a Compelling Selection of Works from The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss

BlackBird Frame & Art hosts “Rare Editions Exhibition: a Compelling Selection of Works from The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss”. The exhibit includes two-dimensional and three-dimensional works presented by Ann Jackson Gallery in Roswell, GA and is the first time “The Art of Dr. Seuss Collection” will be shown in Asheville. Visitors may explore and acquire works from Dr. Seuss’ best-known children’s books, as well as those from a mind-expanding collection of private artwork. Each limited edition has been adapted and reproduced from original drawings, paintings or sculptures. Additionally, each work bears a posthumously printed or engraved Dr. Seuss signature, identifying the work as an authorized limited edition commissioned by the Dr. Seuss Estate.

Mini Goat Play Yard

We have a fenced in area for Pygmy goat encounters; petting, snuggling, brushing, and feeding. A covered sitting area for parents near by. Our goats are the smallest breed of goat in the world: registered Pygmy’s. While the Play Yard is the main attraction, there will be other livestock to pet in stalls. Come and spend an hour and a half making memories and taking plenty of pictures. Closed toed shoes strongly recommend. We hope to see you !

Get ready to groove to the beats from two of Asheville’s Hottest Dj Supaman & Dj Twan who will keep the party LIVE all day and night! The dance floor will be calling, so bring your best moves and let loose on the rink!🕺

The concession stand will be stocked and ready – with delicious foods, treats, and refreshing beverages to keep you energized throughout the event.
There will be a limited number of skates available for rent – But you can purchase skates now at your local Walmart or on Amazon.
This event is perfect for the entire family, and please be advised that children UNDER 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult for their safety and to ensure a fantastic time for all attendees.

Family Fun Day

Join us for a special day of fun for the entire family! We’ll have over 10 local vendors to shop from, live music from Craig St John from 3-6 PM, tasty grub from The Hungry Ghost, Axe Throwing, Fairy Hair, Cotton Candy, Shaved Ice, and plenty of cold, house-made libations to help beat the heat!
