“Me & Mama” Storywalk

All Month Long in April
“Me & Mama” Storywalk at the Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center in Asheville with Asheville Parks & Recreation. A StoryWalk® is a fun, educational activity that displays pages of an illustrated children’s book along a walking route. Conceived as a way to inspire young children to go outside for physical activity and to learn, the trails help build kids’ interest in reading while encouraging healthy activity for both them and adults.
📚 This months selection is by award-winning author and illustrator Cozi A. Cabrera. Mama’s love is brighter than the sun, even on the rainiest of days. There is gentle charm and delight in this book narrated by a little girl enjoying and observing the ordinary details of spending the day with her mama. Each of Cabrera’s illustrated pages are stand-alone beauties, soaked with color and detail as well as abstraction. Some show the differences between the sizes and colors of their toothbrushes, drinking cups, rain boots, and breakfast bowls.
☀️ Parents, grandparents, and caregivers looking for a unique outdoor wellness activity to enjoy with children in their lives can visit Asheville Parks & Recreation’s StoryWalk® trails at parks throughout the year.

Spring Fling

All are invited to our annual Spring Fling on April 8, 2023 at noon!! Crafts, Games, Cake Walk, Pizza AND a 1,000 Egg Hunt!!!

Easter Egg Hunt

Join us at the Old Fort Library on Wednesday, April 5th, for an Easter Egg Hunt!

The Pre-K Egg Hunt (ages 5 and under) will be at 11 AM, following Storytime. The Elementary Egg Hunt (ages 6-12) will be at 3:30 PM.

It’s an Easter Toddler Tuesday! We’ve got a great craft and snack planned! Cost is $15. Must register in advance by texting 8284006232

KISS Country Hometown Tour – FREE BBQ!

Kiss Country Family, we are all kinds of excited to announce…the #HometownTour is BACK! We’ve teamed up with Hit the Pit BBQ Co. and we’re gonna be all over WNC slingin’ FREE grub. Yes…really. We’ll be set up from 11:30-1:00 at every stop…and the first 99 folks in line get lunch. On us. No strings attached. “We just want to meet y’all face-to-face, hug your neck, fill your belly…and tell you how much we love y’all for puttin’ up with us.”

ASHEVILLE MUSIC SCHOOL’S SUNDAY FUNDAY

Join us for Asheville Music School’s Sunday Funday on Sunday, April 28th, featuring their Sound Education student band showcase. Five eclectic bands will be playing everything from rock, pop, reggae, to early 70’s metal, & 90’s alternative. You’ll hear everything from Anderson Paak to Metallica. Expect photo booths, games, and all sorts of family-friendly fun!

W/ MINØR, DOLLARS ON ICE, LIMINAL SPACES, DR. FUNKY SQUIRREL, NEON SAGES, AND MORE!

This is an all-ages, general admission event with sliding-scale donations accepted at the door. Free on-site parking!

NOON – 5PM

***Proceeds benefit all Asheville Music School programs, including Sound Education outreach and scholarships through the Paul Thorpe Music Education Fund.

Come hungry because Root Down will be serving their delicious twist on Southern Soul food.
